Pharmacokinetics (Definition and Facts)

Pharmacokinetics is the study of the time course of drug:
  • A - Absorption
  • D - Distribution
  • M - Metabolism
  • E - Excretion
The acronym ADME is often used to remember the separate components of this process.
Pharmacokinetics can also be simply defined as what the body does to the drug.

Adrenergic Receptor Subtypes

Adrenergic Receptors:
  • Adrenergic receptors, or adrenoceptors.
  • Class of G protein-coupled receptors.
  • Target receptors of the catecholamines, especially noradrenaline (norepinephrine) & adrenaline (epinephrine).
  • Typically the binding of an agonist will cause a synpathetic response.
Adrenergic Receptor Subtypes:
  • α1a
  • α1b
  • α1d
  • α2a
  • α2b
  • α2c
  • β1
  • β2
  • β2
